Research and Design
Mariesa is a Senior Product Designer who has lead teams and clients in crafting impactful user experiences for over 15 years in government, commercial, and small start-up environments across the US. She believes that all technical and organizational problems, at their core, are really people problems and she thrives at being able to affect positive change at a deeper level for her clients. A long-time student of ethnography, she places high value in tackling complex problems through human centered and ecosystemic design approaches.
In 2018, she wrote a Hippocratic Oath for Technologists after a period of especially consequential design work which warranted thoughtful consideration of product outcomes. This year, as follow on, Mariesa is currently beta-testing a series of ethics frameworks which facilitate for cross-functional teams the understanding of potential impacts a digital experience may have on its target users and their surrounding ecosystem.
After spending more than a decade in Washington DC, Mariesa is now back in the Pacific Northwest where she was born and raised. In her off-time she enjoys hiking with her son, encaustic painting, and gathering eggs from her backyard chicken, Cluck Norris.
