Ryan is a Software Engineer from Indiana, now residing in the San Francisco Bay area. He cut his teeth in his early teens by writing shell scripts for a VMS system in the early 90's, and and hasn't lost his taste for back-end engineering. As a consultant before coming to Truss, Ryan supported the accelerating international expansion of Amazon Music and helped manage infrastructure for Apple's internal firewall and load balancer service, among others. He is also weirdly excited about relational database technology and all things involving shell automation.
Ryan graduated from Indiana University with a double major in Philosophy and Political Science, the only graduating student to earn the annual academic excellence award from the Department of Philosophy. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys camping, chess, and video games.
